November 11: Biggest single investment in Dunlop history.
Dunlop Conveyor Belting in The Netherlands is making the biggest single investment in its history. Totaling some 6.4 million euros, the new investments will increase current capacity as well as adding a steelcord belting to its already comprehensive range of rubber multi-ply belting.
Phase one – New 100-meter long production hall
Phase two – Installation of new, 12-meter long ‘double-daylight’ press
Phase three – Installation of steelcord production line
The new 100 meter long production hall is being built on the existing site. Dunlop prides itself on the fact that it is the only European belt manufacturer to produce all of its belts in a single location.
The ‘double-daylight’ press, which will be operational this summer, will produce rolls of up to 4 meters in diameter at a width of up to 1400mm. Director of production, Dr Michiel Eijpe, says that the press will be at least twice as efficient as current presses. “We urgently need to improve our capacity,” explains Michiel. “It also means that we can further reduce lead times for our customers”.
The new production line will be used to produce steelcord belting for the first time ever in Drachten. Production is expected to begin next year.
With such ambitious plans, the future continues to look very healthy for Dunlop Conveyor Belting.
