March 11: Samoter exhibition success for Dunlop.
The 28th Samoter - International Earth-Moving and Building Industry Machinery Exhibition held between the 2nd and 6th March in Verona, proved to be an outstanding success for Dunlop Service Italia.
The event, which is held every three years and featured 900 exhibitors representing 37 countries, was held in a show area of over100 thousand square metres. Concerns that the world economic situation would cause reduced interest proved to be unfounded as the exhibition welcomed some 98,000 visitors.
Netherlands-based Dunlop Conveyor Belting was represented by its Italian subsidiary company, Dunlop Service Italia. General manager, Gianni Gresia, was both surprised and delighted by the positive results achieved during the show. “Many companies were not aware of our presence in Italy, and if they were, they did not know that we had two service centers. We had a very high number of visitors to our stand and many were surprised that we provide such a wide range of products and services apart from supplying Dunlop conveyor belts”.
Sales manager Sebastiano Zuccarello was equally enthusiastic. “We won several orders during the show, which is pretty unusual for this kind of event. We also gained more than 100 new sales leads so we are hoping that this will result in a lot of long-term business as well”.
Dunlop’s Italian based team was well supported by senior managers from their head office and production plant in Drachten including Sales & Marketing Director, Andries Smilda. “The exhibition was an outstanding success for us but at the same time we also learnt a valuable lesson” commented Mr Smilda. “The show proved to us that there are still a lot of conveyor users in Italy who are not aware that we can provide service and conveyor accessories as well as high quality conveyor belts, which of course is what we are best known for. We are more convinced than ever that we have a very bright future in Italy”.
