July 09: ATEX classified zones - Dunlop gains EN/ISO 284 safety accreditation.
Due to increasing market demand, Dunlop Conveyor Belting asked the German Institute Dekra Exam GMBH, who are one of the world's leading experts on fire and explosion protection, to conduct tests on the Dunlop range of fire resistant BV belting to certify its suitability for use in ATEX classified zones.
These independent tests have proved that Dunlop’s BV belt cover qualities meet the international EN/ISO 284 standards in every respect. In fact the scientists at Dekra Exam discovered that the anti-static properties of Dunlop belts exceeded the standard by more than 1000 times! This means that all Dunlop Superfort, Dunloflex, Trioflex, UsFlex, Ferroflex and steelcord belt constructions equipped with BV covers are able to meet even the most severe demands for operating within ATEX classified safety zones.
Sytze Brouwers, manager of the Application Engineering department within Dunlop feels that this is very important news for all users of conveyor systems in ATEX regulated areas. “We are delighted to receive this certification from the institute, which confirms the fact that our fire resistant belts not only provide outstanding operational performance but that they also meet the highest safety standards”.
When ordering Dunlop fire resistant belts, please feel free to ask for a copy of the Dekra Document on the electrostatic properties of our BV belting. If you would like more information on the subject of ATEX regulations or any other technical matter regarding conveyors and conveyor belts then please do not hesitate to call the Dunlop Application Engineering team on +31 (0) 512 585 555.
